  • Summary: ALNAP is a sector wide membership network gathering NGOs, academics, and multilateral agencies. ALNAP's focus is on sharing and learning within the humanitarian community. A key tool developed by the network is the Evaluative Reports Database (ERD) which facilitates information sharing and learning lessons amongst humanitarian organisations. The ERD is a bibliographic collection of evaluative reports of humanitarian action, lessons learnt studies and other types of reviews. ALNAP also produces a Review of Humanitarian Action series as well as other periodic publications. ALNAP is member-financed, but members may pay in kind if financial resources are not available.

Assessment

ALNAP is both a peer working group and a freely available information serice focusing on improving the quality of evaluations and integrating learning from evaluations across the wider humanitarian sector. Within the humanitarian sector, several initiatives focus on improving the quality and accountability of individual organisations. ALNAP is unique in its focus on sharing learning and evaluations across the sector.
