Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation (version 2.0)
Basic information
- Type: Self-Assessment
- Status: Active
- Thematic area: Environmental and social impact
- Summary: The Conservation Measures Partnership (CMP) is a joint venture of conservation NGOs and other collaborators working on improving the practice of conservation. The Open Standards provide guidance during project design, management, and monitoring in order to help conservation practitioners be more effective . The standards are organised in five steps along the project management cycle: conceptualising the project vision and context; planning actions and planning monitoring; implementing actions and implementing monitoring; analysing data, using the results, and adapting the project; and capturing and sharing learning. Each step includes a brief description of the standards of practice and the expected outputs. The standards have general principles in common such as involvement of stakeholders, development of partnerships, documentation and adjustment.
