  • Summary: The Guidelines on International Human Rights Fact-Finding Visits and Reports provides guidance for NGOs conducting research into human-rights. They were developed by the International Bar Association and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute following wide consultation and extensive analysis of human rights fact-finding reports in order to contribute to good practice in the conduct of fact-finding visists and the compilation of reports. Although intended primarily for NGOs, the guidlines may be useful for anyone seeking to improve the accuracy, objectivity, transparency and credibility in human rights fact finding.

Further info: The guidlines are primarily concerned with ensuring staff safety and well-being during the research exercise, maintaing research objectivity and accuracy during the exercise and when writing up findings, and ensuring interview subjects do not suffer undue stress or danger as a result of the research.
