We do research

We publish reports

We promote ideas

The One World Trust has spent decades researching issues around global governance and accountability and publishing the results. A selection of some of the most critical and acclaimed reports are available to download.

In addition, the One World Trust promotes the exchange of innovative thinking around global governance, with the aim of improving equity, sustainable development and world peace.

Global Governance

We strongly support the UN, but we do not believe that it is designed to make and effectively implement the decisions that the world needs to make for the future of humanity.

To stimulate debate on how global decision-making could better serve humanity’s common interest, we promote education and research around the proposal for a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly. To learn more about the proposal click here.

Artificial intelligence, or AI, is transforming our world, but its governance is struggling to catch up. To find out more about Global Governance of AI project click here.

Accountability

The Global Accountability Project (or GAP) has underpinned much of the work the Trust has performed in recent years. Starting with the development of the Global Accountability Framework, the project went on to produce three annual Global Accountability Reports.

Several
Sectoral Reports have been prepared, including on Climate Change and Research Organisations.

A major project on
CSO Self-Regulation was also completed.

Parliamentary Oversight

Climate Change and Sustainable Development

The One World Trust was established by the British Parliamentary Group for World Government in 1951 and has been working closely with Parliamentarians ever since.

Current Parliamentary oversight is provided by a series of Parliamentary Committees. The effectiveness of the control and oversight of Foreign Affairs exercised by Parliament has been the subject of a series of One World Trust reports under the Parliamentary Oversight Programme.
Addressing climate change and sustainable development
presents one of the major global governance challenges of all time. Over the years, the One World Trust has brought together experts from across the world to create a global climate community and examine how climate change mitigation can be balanced with sustainable development.

Current work centres on support for the Sustainable Development Goals and on Governance around the investment community's relationship with the SDGs

We work with others

The original founders of the One World Trust believed in a Federal approach to World Government, and the organisation has a long-standing relationship with the World Federalist Movement and with the Federal Trust.  The One World Trust has worked closely with CIVICUS, is currently working with Action for Sustainable Development, and is an NGO with Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The One World Trust is working with Democracy Without Borders  to promote education and debate around the UNPA proposal.
